Naming Ceremonies

A naming ceremony offers you the opportunity to celebrate an addition to the family or affirm a new identity. There are no age restrictions - the ceremony may be welcoming a new-born baby, an older child, an adopted child or step-child into the family and wider community.

Some families choose supporting adults for the child (often called 'guide-parents') but this is completely optional. Grandparents, siblings and wider family can all play a role in the ceremony if you choose. The ceremony may also be for more than one person if you wish to celebrate a blending of families becoming one.

Whilst for many, a naming ceremony is a preferred alternative to a christening or other religious ceremony, you may choose to include any symbolism or elements you would like into your naming ceremony, whether they be secular, spiritual or symbolic.

I will work with you to create a ceremony that reflects your family and the hopes and dreams for the child's future, blending words, music and rituals in whatever way works for you.

I am also able to help create naming ceremonies to affirm a transition in name and/or identity, for whatever reason, working with you to ensure your ceremony reflects who you truly are.

There are no restrictions on venue or location, or how formal or fun the ceremony can be. I will listen to your stories and curate the perfect day.
